One
Blueberries are fairy fruit. I call them that because they make the milk change color.

Two
To play "rockstar," you dress up in fancy clothes and pretend to like rocks. I like to play princess.

Three
The road is like the earth's tongue.
It doesn't have an end: it goes on and on and on forever.
But it stops at the ocean.

soooo, to play "princess," you dress up in fancy clothes and pretend to like... princes?

F actually prefers "princess family," as she calls it. This involves dressing up in fancy clothes and then assigning family-based roles. She prefers to be either the "mommy" or "big sister," both of which entail caring for a "baby" (doll or friend), and can also include dancing (ballet), doing chores (cleaning, cooking) or food shopping, and occaisonally going to work. Also, you can use martial arts to defeat monsters or other bad guys, e.g. when she plays "Clara" she uses her marial arts to defeat the Mouse King.

Obviously the dressing up is not integral to the role-playing; it's just fun. The role-playing is about trying out things that she sees grown-ups (not women per se) do. (I should note that F's father does nearly all the cooking and food shopping, and a fair bit of the cleaning.)

I am very, very happy that she doesn't get "rockstar" yet. I'm sure it comes from the girls with tween or teen older sisters, and is based on Hannah Montanna and High School Musical. While I don't know the specifics (because F can't describe it to me*), it most likely involves dressing in fancy clothes to look hot.

It's sad that princess thing is actually *more* wholesome than the rockstar thing. But I'm sure that we won't be able to remain in ignorance much longer.

*I've tried to winkle it out of her. So far I have determined that it does not involve singing, playing music, or dancing.
